Description du projet

We are proud to present the campaign for the publication of Dominance, a fast-paced game full of twists, easy to learn but not trivial!

In Dominance, three factions vie to control a region divided into territories (hexagonal tiles). Each faction is represented by a metal coin of a specific color (gold, silver, or bronze). Coins placed on the territories indicate which faction controls them. Players must maneuver the various factions to their advantage, switching sides multiple times during the game. In the end, one faction will prevail, and the player allied with that faction will be the winner!

Dominance is a game by Michele Quondam (Temple of Horrors, Trinidad, Medioevo Universale GX, Virus, Romulo o Remo, Gladiatori, and many others). It's a game for 2-4 players that lasts about 30 minutes and is available in English, Italian, or Spanish.

Dominance has high replayability and is perfect to be played anywhere: it takes up little space and has a modular board that adapts to what is available; it is very quick to explain and play, but not at all trivial, on the contrary.

Dominance is available in several settings. The coin sets and miniatures change and are themed. We start with "Medieval Italy" and "Inca Empire." In the first case, the game is inspired by the many clashes in Italy in the late Middle Ages. Palace battles and intrigues were commonplace, and each important family wished to gain dominion over the others.
The Inca Empire was formed through a long series of wars and the subjugation of different peoples. There was no shortage of clashes, even internal ones, for the control of territory; after all, the Empire was federal.

The Inka Empire prototype

Other settings will be available during the campaign.

The miniatures and coins are thematic and vary depending on the set chosen. The Medieval Italy set includes:

The Inca Empire set has the same contents, but the miniatures and coins included are different:

Alternatively, you can purchase the Inca Empire add-ons to include both miniatures and coin sets in your game copy. Additional sets will be unlocked and made available as add-ons during the campaign.

Here is the new unlocked set: Ancient Rome!

After the campaign, you can add Sets to your game copy during the pledge manager.

  • Medieval Italy set, 9.95 euros (EU MSRP: 19 euros). It includes 39 medieval coins and 12 miniatures of medieval buildings.
  • Inka Empire set, 9.95 euros (EU MSRP: 19 euros). It includes 39 Inka coins and 12 miniatures of Inka buildings.
  • Ancient Roma set, 9.95 euros (EU MSRP: 19 euros). It includes 39 Roman coins and 12 miniatures of Roman buildings.

Further add-ons will be available during the campaign.

Please note that the videos published below use a game prototype. This version is not final and misses some graphical elements.

Three factions compete for dominion over a territory. A metal coin of a given color represents each faction. The game begins on a variable board of 6-9 hexagons, which the players randomly arrange or place ad hoc:

At the start, a random coin representing the faction controlling it is placed on each hexagon.

Players randomly create a line of coins on the table (with the banner token on its end) and a reserve with the game miniatures. Each player receives four starting coins, and the game starts with a random first player!

On his turn, a player can take 2 actions:

- move the coins present in one territory to an adjacent one:

- reinforce a territory by taking 1 coin from the game reserve: the coin must be the same color as one in the territory. If none of those colors exist, the player chooses which one to place from those available. If there are none, you cannot perform this action.

- take the first coin in the coins line into your stock. You can only do this action if you have less than 5 coins.
- open a dispute; this action ends the player's turn.

The dispute assigns a territory to a faction:
All players take 0+ coins from their stock and hide them in their hands. Then, they reveal them simultaneously. Considering the coins bet by everyone and those in the territory, the faction with the most coins wins. In a tie, whoever does the dispute decides the winning faction. The faction definitively obtains the territory: the hexagon is turned onto its b/w side, and a coin of the victorious faction is placed on it.
Among those who have bet the winning faction's coin, the Leader has bet the most coins of that type. He takes the first coin of the coin line and can construct a building in the hexagon where the dispute occurred or one adjacent to it. The buildings are Bridges (connect two hexes), Village, City (replaces a Village), and Capital (replaces a City).

Game End
When the penultimate territory is assigned to a faction, the game ends. Each territory provides 1 point to the faction that controls it + the bonus for buildings: if there is a village, +1; if there is a city, +2; if there is a capital, +3. If there is a bridge and the two connected territories have the same faction, they both get +1.
The faction with the most points wins. In case of a tie, whoever has the capital (or in sequence: the city, a village, or more territories) wins.

And then?
At this point, the player with the most coins from the victorious faction wins! This aspect profoundly changes the flow of the game and its depth ;-)
If you push a faction too hard, you risk running out of coins. Likewise, if you don't do it, you risk that faction losing!

3 or 4 players
With 3 players, you can play with the normal rules or the "Political" variant.
If the variant is used, one player is the Politician and can secretly side with a specific faction. At the start of the game, they can choose a faction token from the four available (one for each faction and one neutral). If they choose a faction, they will win only if that faction wins (regardless of the coins owned by the other players). If they choose the neutral faction token, they will play without siding with a specific faction (but the others will not know this).

With 4 players, it's two against two. The alliance coins are counted for the final score. You can't speak or make signs.

The Dominance project is simultaneously active on two crowdfunding platforms: Giochistarter and Kickstarter. The game is the same on both platforms. The total funds achieved, which determines the unlocked improvements, is represented by the sum of the funds raised by both campaigns. This sum is automatically visible on Giochistarter in the top left corner of the page.

You can join this campaign using different payment methods: credit card, Paypal, Bitcoin, Satispay, or paying by traditional bank transfer.
The games will be shipped from Italy. There will, therefore, be no additional costs for shipments within the European Union (such as customs fees or other taxes). If you live outside the EU, customs duties may be added to the cost of the game. We recommend that you inform yourself about the legislation in your country for more information in this regard.

The Pledge Manager will be active after the end of the campaign. It's a special area of our site where you can review and modify your purchase and purchase additional games or add-ons.

You can collect your copy of Dominance for free at the Giochix Shop in Rome (Via Igino Giordani 18) or, if available in time, at our stand at the Lucca Fair (2024 edition). Alternatively, we can send the game to your home. The shipping costs for 1 game copy are about:

When finalizing your cart, you can view shipping costs. The system will show you different services, and you can choose the one you prefer.

Games will ship starting in December 2024 or as soon as possible. Remember that given the international situation for production and transport, this date is completely indicative.

Campaign terms

Availability. Please note that the estimated shipping date is indicative only. While we will do our best to meet this schedule, delays may occur due to factors beyond our control, such as production setbacks, logistics issues, or Customs delays. Please keep in mind that this is a shipping date, not a delivery date. Delivery timing depends on your location and the selected shipping method.

Communications. For any inquiries or support, please use the contact form available on our website.

Components. Contents, images, and illustrations are provided for reference purposes only and are subject to change without notice.

Fairs. If you choose to pick up your game at a convention and the product is unavailable, the event is delayed or canceled, our participation is retracted, or you fail to collect your order, you must update your shipping method. You can do this by clicking the "Change shipment" button on your order page at giochistarter.it. In such cases, you will be responsible for the applicable shipping costs. Please note that fulfillment may coincide with major industry events, such as Spiel Essen (Germany) or Lucca Comics & Games (Italy). We will showcase and sell the game at these fairs regardless of the campaign's fulfillment status. Participation in these events is vital to the project's overall success.

Cancellations and Refunds. Orders can be canceled for a full refund before the campaign ends via the dedicated button on your order page. After the campaign concludes, you may still request a full refund within 7 days by emailing us. Between 8 and 15 days after the campaign ends, cancellations are still permitted; however, the refund will be limited to 90% of the amount paid to cover processing and administrative fees. Beyond this 15-day window, orders are considered final and are no longer eligible for cancellation or refund.

Shipments. We ship via national postal services or supported couriers (e.g., UPS, GLS, SDA, DHL). We reserve the right to split orders into multiple packages or merge separate orders into a single shipment. Such adjustments will not result in additional costs to the customer, nor will they entitle the customer to any refund.

Tracking. Shipments sent via courier or insured mail are trackable. Standard postal shipments are not trackable; while loss is rare (statistically 0.1–1%), it can occur. Please note that uninsured packages that are lost in transit will not be refunded or reshipped.

Delivery Estimates. Courier shipments typically take 1–2 days for Italy, 3–6 days for EU/US/Canada, and 1–2 weeks for the rest of the world. Postal shipments generally require 1–2 weeks for Italy, 3–10 weeks for EU/US/Canada, and 4–14 weeks for the rest of the world. Postal services may experience significant delays, particularly during holiday seasons like Christmas. If you require faster delivery or wish to minimize the risk of delay, we strongly recommend selecting a courier service.

Insurance. Courier insurance covers loss, destruction, and damage. Postal insurance covers loss or destruction. To claim insurance, you must inspect the package upon delivery. If damage is visible, please ask the carrier to mark the receipt as "accepted with reserve" and notify us within 7 days.

Claims. Claims for lost or non-delivered packages must be submitted within 90 days of the shipping date. Claims for damaged or missing components must be submitted within 7 days of receipt. We use high-quality protective packaging; therefore, shipping damage is rare. Please note that we do not accept claims for minor aesthetic damage to the box; we only provide replacements for damages that affect gameplay or components.

Errors and Re-delivery. If a shipment fails due to customer error (e.g., incorrect address, absence during delivery, failure to collect from a warehouse), the customer must cover the additional shipping, return, and warehousing costs for re-delivery. Conversely, if the error is ours, we will reship the order at our expense. If an insured package is lost or destroyed, we will reship it at our expense. In this case, the customer may choose to use the same shipping method again; however, should the second shipment also be lost or destroyed, we will not provide further reshipments or refunds. Alternatively, the customer may upgrade to a more secure or reliable shipping method by paying the difference in cost. Please note that selecting a non-trackable method for a second shipment automatically exempts us from any further responsibility regarding the delivery. We will not reship any items until the cause of the initial delay has been investigated. This process takes approximately one week for couriers but can take 1–5 weeks for postal services.

Complaints Deadline. We will not accept complaints regarding this campaign's products later than 12 months after the initial shipping date. For any shipping-related issues, you must notify us within 7 days of delivery; failure to provide notification within this 7-day window will result in the claim being rejected.

Customs and Taxes. Depending on your country, Customs duties and taxes may apply. Shipping companies may also charge administrative fees for Customs clearance. Please note that these charges are NOT included in the shipping costs paid during the campaign or in the Pledge Manager. Any such taxes, duties, or fees are determined by your local authorities and must be paid by the customer upon delivery or when requested by the carrier. Please check your country's rules and regulations to determine them. If the project features a "friendly" shipping icon (e.g., EU-Friendly), Customs taxes and duties will not apply. Please note that this symbol is an indication based on current data; as regulations can change at any moment, any new or additional taxes or duties resulting from such changes will be the customer's responsibility, and the "friendly" status will no longer apply.

Shipping Costs. As fulfillment occurs months after the campaign, shipping costs are estimates. If carrier rates increase significantly, the customer is responsible for the difference. If the difference is not paid, we reserve the right to downgrade the shipping to a more economical method or cancel the shipment and change it to "In-person pickup" (at a fair or in Rome).

Pledge Manager. A few weeks after the campaign ends, the Pledge Manager will open. This allows you to confirm your order, add items, and update your address. The Pledge Manager will be open for a limited time. Failure to complete it by the deadline will result in:

  • Loss of campaign-exclusive pricing on add-ons (standard retail prices will apply).

  • Potentially higher shipping rates.

  • No guarantee of availability for limited-edition or exclusive content.

  • Possible delays in your shipment date.

  • Loss of the "In-person pickup" option.

Six months after the Pledge Manager deadline, the period is considered closed. Any unclaimed pledges will be forfeited, and the contributions will be used to offset the project's production and processing costs.
