This revised edition of Thorsten Gimmler's award-winning game has been completely redesigned, with new rules and a beautiful new art style inspired by Norse mythology.

We are proud to present the campaign of Odin's Ravens by Thorsten Gimmler, published by Osprey Games where players build a board out of cards and race their ravens around the world. We sold here the English version of the game. The game is language independent.

Odin's Ravens is a board game for 2 players that lasts about 20-30 minutes. This revised edition of Thorsten Gimmler's award-winning game has been completely redesigned, with new rules and a beautiful new art style inspired by Norse mythology.

"Odin’s Ravens is one of the most fun, quick-play family games I’ve ever encountered. The chance to create a new edition of this game as part of the Osprey Games line-up was just too good an opportunity to pass up. By combining Thorsten Gimmler’s game design with the artwork of Johan Egerkrans, we are producing something really special – a great game that is also a little work of art". D. Molloy, Osprey games.

Introduction

Every morning, Odin, the Allfather of the Norse Gods, sends his two ravens, Huginn and Muninn out into Midgard to watch over the land. Each player will take a raven and use their flight cards to move them across the different landscapes of the world which we know as Earth. After thousands of years of taking this trip every day, the ravens have turned it into a race! They will head in opposite directions around the world, and the first one who returns to the starting point will be the winner. They can also ask for help from Loki, god of tricks and mischief, to make their path easier or the other raven’s path trickier! With clever use of flight cards and Loki cards, a raven can move quickly over the world and win the race back to Odin’s side.

Can you be certain Loki's changes won't help your opponent instead? There's only one way to find out!

How to play

Shuffle the land cards and place a line of 16 cards between the players. Each card contains two spaces, and these spaces form two routes down which the ravens will fly. Both players place their ravens at one end of the land cards, each in front of one route. When a raven reaches the last land card, it switches to the other side of it and flies back along the other route. The first player to use the flight paths to fly to the end of the world and back is the winner.

Each player takes the 25 flight cards and 8 Loki cards of their colour, shuffles them separately and places them face down as two draw piles. Players then draw 5 cards as their starting hand. Each player can choose to draw cards from either pile in whichever combination they like.

On their turn, players can choose how many cards from their hand they want to play. Each type of card allows players to take a different action. Players can take as many or as few actions as they like, as long as they have the right cards available. The actions are:

FLIGHT – using a flight card to move a raven along the flight path.
TRICKERY – using a Loki card to take one of the actions on the card.

FLIGHT CARDS – move a raven along the flight path of the specified type. To fly over a mountain you need a mountain flight card, to fly on a forest you need a forest card, and so on. There are two interesting tricks: one lets you move over a series of cards of the same type with a single flight card: for instance, if there is a row of 3 mountain cards, you only need 1 mountain cards to move over the three of them. The second trick lets you work around the lack of a type of card by playing any two flight cards of the same type.

LOKI CARDS – resolve one of the card’s actions. Those actions and their possible combinations are what gives strategical depth to this game, while keeping it simple and fast. For instance, there is an action that lets you pass over a land card of any type, one that swaps players cards, one that removes a specific land card reducing the distance, one that swaps the positions of two land cards, or one that lets you draw more cards.

Loki cards must be removed from the game once they’ve been used, so their use must be planned carefully, which means that the combination of cards played in a same turn could be critical. When to play can therefore be as important as what to play.

The game ends when a player moves their raven into the final space on their opponent’s side. That player is the winner!

Important notes

Production. A distinction must be made between games printed directly byGiochix or printed by another publisher, that we can be call "indirect".

In the first case we have direct control over the printing procedures and we canintervene quickly in case of problems, solving and adjusting if necessary. In the second case we can only interact with the publisher that prints the game without having the opportunity to act on the production process.

This means that when the games are printed by us, the shipping date that weindicated in the draft is fairly safe. Obviously in this case there may be delays, and this should be taken into account, but we are confident of being able to respect the times given.

In the second case, for "indirect" games, the shipment date is only indicative.Unfortunately it can happen that deliveries suffer a delay and this must beconsidered before making a purchase. Of course we will inform you immediatelyif something were to happen.

-> Odin's Raven is printed by Osprey Games So it is a "indirect" game.

Components. Game specifications and components are to be considered indicative and can be changed during final production.

Project pages. Sometime there can be some little variances between the pages of this project in the different languages. In that case, refer to the project’s English page.

Fairs. It can happen that game shipment is scheduled in a time frame adjacent to a big Fair, like Essen Fair in Germany or Lucca Comics and Games in Italy. Is important to know that we will show/sell the game in these fairs independently of campaign participant shipment status. These Fairs are too important and unfortunately it is not possible to avoid them without destroying the game’s chances to be a success.

Shipments. Depending on the game, we ship by Postal service, insured Postal service or by Courier (UPS/GLS/SDA/Bartolini).

We reserve the right to separate the contents of an order in different shipments or to merge the contents of different orders in the same shipment to improve shipment delivery speed and logistics management. If that happens, there will not be any additional cost for the customer (nor right to any refund).

Shipments made by Courier or by insured Postal service can be tracked and are insured. Shipments made by Postal service (not insured) can not be traced and, although it rarely does, it can happen that they delay or are lost. We recommend to those who want to avoid any problem to use the insured option or an alternative method, if available. If the game gets lost without any fault, we will reship it only if you took insurance option or Courier service.

Shipments insurance doesn't cover any external damage to the box.

Please note that we will not reship any game without first having found out what happened to first shipment. This is really easy and fast for the courier option, but can require 1-4 weeks with Postal service.

If the game will not be delivered because of your mistake (wrong address, recipient repeatedly absent, not picking up the package after the passage of the courier, etc.), you will have to pay an additional shipping cost to re-send you the game. This cost will also include the return costs of the game. Otherwise, if we made an error, we will send it again to you at our expense.

If you live out of the European Community, customs taxes could be added. This usually doesn't happen for board games. Check your Country legislation to be sure about that, ad this aspect is not our responsibility.

Please note that Postal service can be really slow in some rare cases. If you want a fast delivery or simply to avoid the risk of a long wait use an alternative method.

We will no longer accept complaints related to this campaign after 12 months from the date of shipment of games.
