Players represent the Maritime Republics. They must make it stand out, gaining greater commercial, war, and political prestige, but also striving to develop and maintain the Republican values. Be careful, as a great score alone might not be enough to win!



Città-Stato is a strategy game for 1-4 players (1-5 with the Expansion) created by Simone Cerruti Sola, author of Kepler-3042. It has a limited duration, about 60 minutes, and will be published by Giochix.it. By participating in this campaign, you will receive a copy of the Città-Stato boardgame in the English version + the Città-Stato Expansion. 

We are distributed in the EU and only by a few specialized retailers: join this campaign to be sure to get your copy of this great board game! You will get the base game and the Expansion! Instead, it will be challenging to find it, and the MSRP will be around 60 euros (45 euros for the base game and 15 euros for the game Expansion), or maybe more as happens for rare games...




We will be happy to print a Language pack (rulebook and cards) for all languages, which will reach a minimum of 100 backers. The Language pack will be available during the pledge manager for 3.95 euro. 






It is the middle of the 11th century, and the economic recovery is being felt throughout Europe. In conjunction with the Crusades in the Holy Land, the development of new merchant routes has raised several city-states that have established republican-type governments searching for autonomy and stability.
Amalfi, Ancona, Genoa, Pisa, Ragusa di Dalmatia, Venice ... in the game, each player represents a maritime Republic with peculiar characteristics: he must make it stand out, obtaining greater commercial, war, and political prestige, but also engaging in the development and stability of a kind of republican power.
Be careful! Therefore, because an excellent score alone may not be enough, it will also be fundamental to have governed your republic in the best possible way!

A Città-Stato game lasts 7 rounds. In each round, players use their cubes to perform different actions, but with one important rule to keep in mind: the first action costs only one cube, but each subsequent action costs one more of the same color. You will need to plan your moves very well to make as many useful ones as possible!

At the beginning of the game, each player is assigned a maritime republic with its own specific power and secretly receives a Form of Government card (Oligarchy, Plutocracy, Magistracy of the Doge) to be decisive at the end of the game.

Let's take a closer look at what the game actions are:

City Actions. City actions have different colors, and each of them requires one cube of that color to activate (or two cubes if it is the second action, three if it is the third, and so on). Each of them allows you to carry out a specific action:
The green action allows you to draw cubes from your bag and have them available for actions; the white action provides a banner of any color (combinations of banners can provide victory points) and activates the player's specific action's maritime republic. The yellow action is the Market, which allows you to buy new cubes from the market board. The red action is the War and allows you to challenge other players to get Victory Points and new cards. The black action converts banners into crowns (crowns are important to the Form of Government, as explained below). Finally, the purple action provides access to the display of political cards, which allow you to change the Form of Government and provide special powers.

Alternatively, you can use a given color's city action to take a card of the corresponding color from the card display instead of using its power.



The six available city actions. The green player played on the War.


Use a card. Whenever you get a card, you can use it or burn it. To use it, follow the instructions on the card and apply for the benefits. The card then remains in the player's hand until the end of the game, as it will be important for allocating the final points.

Burn a card. When you Burn a card, you place it face down under the corresponding color area of your player board, ignoring the effect described on the card: in this way, you get the benefit indicated on the board: more cards of that color are burned, more powerful the effects will be!



The red player has placed two cards under the board. The first yellow on the left allows you to exchange two cubes of different colors, while the second red immediately gives 1 victory point. A second red card placed under the board will provide 5 VPs, while a second yellow card will provide a banner of any color.


Improve a track. City actions for the colors Red, Green, Purple, and Yellow are done with the power indicated on your player board's corresponding track. With the Upgrade a Track action, you move your marker to the next space, gaining a higher power for the action and a one-time bonus.


The yellow player has taken the yellow track to the maximum level: now, when he does the yellow market action, he will have 4 coins available to buy cubes. Similarly, the green action has been improved to the second level: this allows him to draw 4 cubes instead of 3.


To pass. If you do not want to take action and spend cubes during your turn, you can pass: the round ends and, if he were the first to do so, he would become the first player of the next turn. Sometimes it's very convenient to pass, save cubes, and use them all in one turn!

War
When all the players passed, if some players have placed some discs on the red action space during the turn, the war takes place. The discs have a hidden number, which must now be revealed. Each player will have to pay many cubes equivalent to this number: they must be returned to the bag. Once this is done, the player who played the highest number is the winner of the war. He can choose a card he prefers as a prize, taking it, if he wants, even from the top of the various decks. All other players who have participated in the war will be able to take cards only from the ones left, if any, while the players who have skipped the war will spend time consolidating their form of government. Therefore, it will be necessary to choose carefully when to participate in the war and how much to invest!

The Score at the End of the Game
After 7 game turns, the game ends. The victory points made during the game are then verified, and the player with the most points is the winner .... No, way!
At the end of the game, two scores are checked: the first is the traditional one, obtained during the game from cards and various game combinations, while the second is obtained on the spot: each player checks the cards he has used during the game and these which he had put aside (used cards): he can use/burn one card of each color again. The points obtained from this procedure represent the player's second score.

At this point, each player checks his own Form of Government and checks if it matches the one indicated on the card received at the beginning of the game (or exchanged during the game through some actions). If they do not match, the lowest score is automatically obtained!
If, on the other hand, they match, the distance between the two scores must be verified, and the crowns between them must be counted (they are shown on the scoreboard). These crowns must be paid by the player, who must then wisely accumulate them during the game. Only after this payment is the player credited with the highest score!



A game end in a 3-player game. The blue player has not reached the form of government indicated on his card and therefore gets the lower score between the two!!! The yellow and red instead have succeeded. At this point, red will have to pay 3 crowns to be credited with the higher score, and so he does. Yellow has to pay two but has only one, so he gets the lowest score. In the end, then red wins, followed by yellow and finally blue.

The expansion introduces two new Cities (Gaeta and Noli), 15 new powerful cards, and the contents for the fifth player. This allows players to add variability to their games, and to play also in 5 players.


This option is only available to verified stores. Proof of status will be required; this is not available to group buys and/or clubs.

You will able to buy 1 Market reward for 50 euros, which will allow you to
buy 1 or more retailer packs for 239 euros each (VAT not included, but VAT is not applicable out of Italy) and the available addons at a campaign price. The 50 euro of the reward will be credited to that payment. A retailer pack is made of 12 copies of the Città Stato base game + expansion. The final payment is due within July 2021!
 
The shipping cost for the retailer pack is included for the EU, while 19 euros are due for USA, Norway, UK, and Switzerland; 29 euros cost for Canada or China; 39 euros to Japan, South Korea, or Australia; 49 euros for Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Taiwan. This campaign does not include stretch-goals. We preferred to immediately include any additions into the standard pledge, such as the Fifth Player expansion and other our usual improvements (linen texture for cards, boards, and the box; stronger and thicker boards). The game's final quality will be very high, as for our last game De Vulgari Eloquentia Deluxe.

The project will be active simultaneously on two crowdfunding platforms: Giochistarter and Kickstarter.

The game the same on both platforms. The total of the funds reached, which determines the unlocked stretch-goals, will be represented by the sum of the funds raised by both campaigns. This sum will be automatically visible on Giochistarter in the upper left corner of the page. The language packs will unlock, considering both platform results.

The shipment of a single game in Italy costs about 7 Euros. For other countries, shipping costs are shown by the site during the finalization of the cart.

Simone Cerruti Sola is a great lover of board games, "of which I definitely prefer the Eurogames", an expert master of role-playing games, and a fan of fantasy in general. He is the author of Kepler-3042, released in 2016.

Outside the world of board games, he is a chemist and deals with colors in a wool factory.

Availability. You must take into consideration that the shipment date is indicative. We will do our best to respect such a date, but delays may occur for reasons beyond our control, such as production delays, transport, or Customs issues. Please note that it's a shipment date, not a delivery date. Delivery timing depends on where you live and the shipment method selected. 
 
Communications. Please use the contact form on our website for any request or question. 
 
Components. Contents, images, and illustrations must be considered merely indicative of the final product and may be subject to change without notice.
 
Fairs. If you choose to pick up your game at a Fair and the game is unavailable, the Fair is delayed/canceled, Giochix participation is canceled, or if you miss picking it up, you must change your shipping method. This is possible by clicking the "Change shipment" button on your order page on our website. In that case, you will have to pay the shipping costs. 
Please note that the game's shipment can be scheduled close to a Game Fair, such as Essen Fair in Germany or Lucca Comics and Games in Italy. It is important to note that we will be showing/selling the game at these fairs independently of the campaign shipment status. Attending these fairs is vital to the game's chances of success.

Pickup in Rome. If you choose the option for pickup in Rome, you must collect your order within 90 days of its availability: after this date, the availability of the products will no longer be guaranteed. All not collected orders will have to pay the storage cost of 1 euro/kg of product (or its fractions) every 30 days for the first 12 months and 2 euro/kg of product every 30 days after the first 12 months. This cost is not due if the order is collected within 90 days of product availability. After 24 months from product availability, all not collected orders will be wasted.
 
Order Canceling. An order can be canceled and fully refunded before the campaign's end by clicking the specific button on the order page. After the end of the campaign, the order can still be canceled and fully refunded within 7 days, with the campaign ending by sending us an email with the specific request. Please note that Paypal doesn't refund transaction costs, so if the consumer uses Paypal, the refund will not include these costs.
After this period, the order can still be canceled within 15 days of the campaign ending date, but please note that in this case, the refund will not include the processing costs and will be limited to 90% of the amount paid. Besides these options, the order is considered valid and is not cancelable/refundable. 

After 24 months from product availability, all unprocessed or uncompleted orders, no matter the reason, will be wasted.
 
We reserve to our sole discretion the right to exclude from the campaign (canceling and refunding the pledge) those who have been banned from using Kickstarter and/or other crowdfunding platforms, which have been reported as fraudulent users by Paypal or by a credit card provider (like Mangopay), which use a "fake" account, which use the platform as spammers, which have missing payments, or who have or have had dishonest, unbecoming and/or defamatory conduct.

Complaints deadline. We will no longer accept complaints about this campaign's products after 12 months from the game's availability date, which is the date of the first shipment. For any shipping-related problems, complaints must reach us within seven days of delivery.
 
Shipments. We ship by postal service or supported courier (UPS, GLS, SDA, DHL, etc.). We reserve the right to separate the contents of orders into different shipments or merge different orders in the same shipment. If this happens, there will be no additional costs to you as a customer nor the right to any refund.
 
Tracking. Shipments made by courier or by the insured postal service can be tracked. Shipments made by the postal service cannot be traced, and although they happen very rarely (0.1-1% of cases), they can be lost.
 
Timing. Courier shipments may take about 1-2 days for Italy, 3-6 days for EU/US/Canada, and 1-2 weeks for the rest of the world. Postal service shipments require about 1-2 weeks for Italy, 3-10 weeks for EU/US/Canada, and 4-14 weeks for the rest of the world. Please note that the postal service can be slow and may suffer several weeks of additional delay, especially near or during the holidays, like Christmas. This rarely happens, but it is still possible and is out of our control. If you would like faster delivery or wish to avoid any risk of a long delay in the package's arrival, please use a courier service.
 
Insurance. Courier shipment assurance ensures package loss, destruction, and package damage. Postal service insurance ensures package loss or destruction. Insurance requires a customer claim to be made when the package is delivered: if you spot any damage, please ask the postal carrier to make you a receipt "accepted with reserve". Then inform us immediately, no later than 7 days from the delivery of the package.

Claims. Claims for lost/not received packages must be made within 120 days of the shipment date. Claims for damaged or missing packages must be sent within seven days from receipt of the package. After these deadlines, claims are not accepted. We use very good package protection and in this way, damages to the games during transport rarely happen. Please note that we don't accept claims for aesthetical damages to the box in this unlucky case but only claims for damages that influence the gameplay. 

Errors. If the game failed to arrive because of your mistake (wrong address, recipient absent, not picking up at courier/postal warehouse, etc.), you will have to pay an additional shipping/warehousing cost for us to re-send/re-deliver your game. This cost will also include the return costs of the game. On the other hand, we will send it again to you at our expense if the error is ours. If the package is lost or destroyed, we will reship it at our expense only if it is insured. In this case, it will be the customer's responsibility to choose a second shipment, a safer or more reliable method if the first one did not work, and to pay any difference in cost, if any. The choice of non-traceable shipping methods for a second shipment will automatically exonerate us from any responsibility regarding the game's delivery. 
Please note that we will not reship any game without investigating what happened to the first shipment. This can be processed quickly through the courier service option but may require an additional 1-5 weeks through the postal service. 

Customs. Depending on your Country, Customs taxes and/or VAT may be added. If this happens, the transporter company could add a cost to the management of Customs. Please check your country's rules and regulations. Any additional tax, cost, or additional charge due to Customs will not be our responsibility and will be paid by the customer.
Please verify your country's rules and regulations if the project has a "friendly" symbol, like "US-friendly". This
 symbol is only an indication as rules can change at any moment. 

Shipping costs. Since the actual game shipment takes place several weeks/months after the campaign ends, the shipping costs are estimated. In the case that, in the meantime, the costs have increased, the customer will have to pay the difference between the amount paid and the actual cost. Otherwise, we will proceed with the shipment by changing the selected shipping category with a cheaper one, or, if not possible, we will stop the shipping process.
 
Pledge Manager. After a few weeks from the end of the campaign, the Pledge Manager will be active. This procedure allows participants to confirm and revise their orders, purchase add-ons, and update their profile/delivery address. The Pledge Manager will be up for a few days to a specific deadline. We strongly recommend all participants complete the pledge manager within the expiration date. If not, please consider that:
- Any special campaign price for addons expires with the Pledge Manager deadline. After that date, all addons will be available at a normal price.
- The shipping price may be higher.
- We will not be able to guarantee the availability of any exclusive content made in a limited quantity.
- We cannot guarantee the scheduled shipment date as a delay could happen.
- We will not be able to guarantee the pickup in Rome or at a Fair's Stand (if available in the project).
Users of Giochistarter can access the pledge manager by opening their order page. If a campaign has been run on this platform, other platforms' users will receive access data by email.
