America, the land of endless possibilities! In Oklahoma Boomers you play as a settler attempting to secure his land.

April 22, 1889, Shortly before noon: The covered wagons stretch for miles and in a few minutes we'll all get underway. We are united by one goal: To secure as much land as possible. We are the Oklahoma Boomers ...
-John Baker-

America, the land of endless possibilities. Many immigrants followed this promise, but rarely were there such opportunites as the land runs at the end of the 19th century. Hundreds of thousands of settlers packed everything they owned into a wagon and set off to find their fortune in the unknown territories. In Oklahoma Boomers you play as one of these fortune hunters attempting to secure your land.

April 24, 1889: We've finally left the majority of the other Boomers behind us, but these families won't just give up. They've been following us for miles. Hopefully we can get our land staked out in time before they get here ...
-John Baker-

For experienced casual gamers

Oklahoma Boomers is a strategy game from Martyn F for two players who want to discover new lands. Through the different play styles, as well as expansions - such as the Santa Fe Railroad or the Silver Mines- Oklahoma Boomers always provides a new and different play experience. The replayability is virtually unlimited, and in this regard is reminiscent of other standards like Chess or Go.

You'll have to not only focus on your strategy, but also adjust based on the tactics of your opponent. The short playtime makes Oklahoma Boomers perfect for a short filler in between other games.

Simple game with great depth and replayability

The rules of Oklahoma Boomers can be explained quickly. At the beginning of the game the board will contain 3 meeples for each player, representing their Boomers (or settlers), and several border stones. Each player alternates moving one of their Boomers and then placing one or two border stones at the intersections of their opponents meeples. In this way the settlers homestead is staked out. The end of the game occurs when all meeples are in a homestead. Each player's area is added up, and the player with the most points wins.

The alternating placement of the border stones allows your moves may be tactically planned in advance. The additional game modes using the silver mine and railroad provide many other options, especially since their locations can be set as desired. Your strategy should definitely take into account the mines and railroads, which will have a significant influence on the points at the end of the game. But you can also take a lot of land away from you opponent when they concentrate too much on the silver mine points.

Here you can take a look at the preliminary rulebook for Oklahoma Boomers (English version).

April 25, 1889: WE'RE RICH! Well, as good as. We've discovered abundant silver in the area! And the Santa Fe Railroad will allow us to more easily sell it. But first we have to get rid of the Whitmans. I've already seen their son sneaking around my border stones to the east ...
-John Baker-

Which edition?

Oklahoma Boomers is language independent. The manual and the box will be produced in multilingual edition including English and Italian version. All participants will receive this version.

My goals for Oklahoma Boomers

The goals for Oklahoma Boomers are simple: the game can only be produced with your help. Because Oklahoma Boomers is a self-published game, the financing is the biggest hurdle. But through your support I know that together we can not only overcome this obstacle, but also make the game even better.

4,300 € - Game financed: With this amount we will be able to publish Oklahoma Boomers!

7,000 € - Silver Mine Expansion: At this level we can include the Silver Mine Expansion in every game. The silver mines give special importance to specific areas on the board. This causes your game to play very differently - depending on the position of the mines.

Additional Goals? I'm open to your suggestions, and there may be additional funding goals that we haven't considered yet! I'll test your suggestions, and if they're good then maybe we can add them to the game.

Who is responsible for this project?

Hello, my name is Martyn F and I'm the man behind Oklahoma Boomers. When I'm not working as a game designer, developing and testing great new boardgames, I work as a freelancer on various ID projects. My latest game is called Limes and is being published by Abacusspiele. My earliest boardgame memories are of Scotland Yard, which I often played with my brother. But it wasn't until many years later when I met a German student whose parents owned a large closet full of board games that I was fully immersed in this world.

Since then I've self-published many of my own games, such as Wadi (2007), Cities (2008) and TWRS (2009). Mygraphic artist is Hans Janssen. As a veteran boardgame artist, he's already brought many games to life including Homesteaders, Era of Inventions and Alba Longa.

Giochistarter's assessment

Martyn F is an experienced designer. He already garnered enough attention with Cities in 2009 to get a Spiel des Jahres recommendation, as well as being nominated for the Nederlandse Spellenprijs game award. His newest title Limes has only been available for a short time, and as already been nominated for the Kinderspielexperten 2014-Preis. The award winner will be announced in September.

The cost calculations for the project are, in our experience and assessment, realistic. The game is, in our opinion, for experienced gamers and we believe a recommended age of 10 years and older to be appropriate.
